Getting Started

What age can my child start dance?

Children can begin dancing at 2 years old, but it’s never too late to start! Our beginner dance classes for toddlers, preschoolers, elementary students, teens, and adults are designed for every stage of learning. Whether your child is looking for their first dance class or is transferring from another dance studio, we’ll help you find the right fit.

We know parents aren’t just looking for a dance class—they’re looking for a place where their child feels welcomed, encouraged, and excited to come back each week. That’s exactly what we work to create.

How do I know which classes are best for my child?

If your child is new to dance, start by choosing one to three classes that match their interests and personality. The most important thing during the first year is helping them discover a love of dance while building confidence.

If you’re unsure which styles your child would enjoy, we’d be happy to help! We can recommend classes based on your child’s age, personality, and interests, and even show you videos of each style.

If your child has previous dance experience, we usually recommend continuing in the styles they already enjoy while adding something new. Technique classes like Acro and Leaps, Turns & Jumps are excellent additions that help dancers develop skills more quickly.

One recommendation we almost always make is ballet. Ballet is the foundation of nearly every dance style. It teaches posture, balance, flexibility, body awareness, and proper technique that carries over into jazz, pom, lyrical, contemporary, and even hip hop. That’s why all of our competitive dancers take ballet, and why we encourage recreational dancers to consider adding it as they continue to grow.

If your child is transferring from another studio, we’ll help determine the best class placement. Some classes may require a brief evaluation to ensure your dancer is placed where they’ll be most successful.

How many classes should my child take each week?

We recommend most beginner dancers start with one or two classes each week. As they continue their journey, many families quickly discover their dancer wants more!

Think about it this way: most sports practice multiple times each week. Dance is no different. Taking more than one class gives dancers additional opportunities to build strength, coordination, confidence, and technique while experiencing different styles.

Many younger dancers successfully take multiple classes in one evening or on different days. Preschool dancers often enjoy two classes back-to-back, while older dancers frequently combine performance classes with technique classes like Acro or Leaps, Turns & Jumps.

The best schedule is one that fits your family’s routine while giving your child opportunities to grow.

Can my child try a class before enrolling?

Yes! We’d love to meet you.

In August we host a Free Trial Event, where new families can tour our studio, meet instructors, and participate in sampler classes featuring three different dance styles.

If you miss the event, contact us to ask about current trial opportunities. We’ll do our best to help your child experience Power of Dance before committing to the season.

What makes Power of Dance different?

Parents often tell us they’re looking for more than just a dance class—and we couldn’t agree more. They want their child to gain confidence, make friends, stay active, and be encouraged by teachers who truly care. At Power of Dance, we believe great dance instruction and strong character development go hand in hand. Every class is designed to help dancers grow not only in their technique, but also in responsibility, perseverance, kindness, and self-confidence.

Families appreciate our:

  • Welcoming atmosphere where every dancer belongs
  • Experienced, caring instructors
  • Age-appropriate music, costumes, and choreography
  • Safe, spacious facility with four large dance studios
  • Convenient on-site dancewear store
  • Opportunities for both recreational and competitive dancers
  • Strong emphasis on character development alongside dance education

Whether your child wants to dance just for fun or dreams of performing on stage, they’ll find encouragement and support every step of the way.

Are parents allowed to watch class?

Yes! Parents are welcome to watch class through the monitors in our lobby. Our preschool studio also includes a viewing window so you can watch your little dancer without distracting the class.

Our instructors work hard to help dancers become independent and confident, so we encourage families to enjoy watching while allowing students to focus on their teachers and classmates.

Do I need to stay while my dancer is in class?

That’s completely up to you!

Many parents choose to drop their dancer off and return at the end of class, while others enjoy relaxing in our lobby during class time. Our lobby includes seating and video monitors so you can follow along with your dancer’s class.

What should my dancer wear?

Dancers should wear clothing that allows them to move comfortably while still allowing instructors to see proper body alignment. Hair should always be securely pulled back away from the face, and street shoes should be removed before entering the dance studios.

Season & Performances

What does the dance season look like?

Our 2026-27 season begins on August 31 and continues through May, ending with our annual Spring Production.

The first part of the season focuses on building technique, learning new skills, and preparing dancers for choreography. Around November, classes begin learning their recital routines.

Throughout the year families can also look forward to:

  • Costume measuring and ordering in the fall
  • Costume distribution throughout the winter
  • Professional class and individual photos in early spring
  • Multiple Spring Production performances, with most classes performing twice

Our recital is a wonderful celebration of everything dancers have accomplished throughout the season.

Are there other performance opportunities?

Yes! All dancers are invited to perform in the Green Bay Holiday Parade with Power of Dance.

Dancers in Kindergarten and up will learn a parade routine in their performance classes. We will practice this weekly for about a month leading up to the parade.

Preschool dancers are invited to ride along in our trailer and spread the holiday spirit with their smiles and waves!

For dancers interested in even more performance opportunities, Performance Team is a great option. Auditions for Performance Teams continue through August. Learn more on our Competition Teams page, and contact us if your dancer is interested in joining.

What other events are planned during the season?

There’s always something fun happening at POD!

  • September: Bring a Friend Week
  • October: HalloWeek dress-up
  • November: Parent Observation Week
  • December: Holiday Pajama Jam dress-up
  • January: in-studio event
  • February: Parent Observation Week
  • March: March Madness studio spirit week
  • April: Parent Observation Week

In addition, we organize several charity events throughout the season as part of our “POD Gives Back” program. These vary from year to year, but usually include a volunteer opportunity in fall and a donation event leading up to the holiday season.

All of these events and opportunities are completely optional.

Tuition & Registration

How does tuition work?

Tuition is based on a 30-week dance season and divided into eight equal monthly payments from September through April. Monthly payments remain the same regardless of how many classes are held during a particular month. Payments are automatically processed using the payment method on your account for added convenience.

An annual membership fee is due upon registration, along with a class deposit that is applied toward your first month’s tuition. More details about tuition and membership fees are available on our policies page.

2026-27 monthly tuition:
Class LengthMonthly Payment
30 min. class$47/mo
45 min. class$60/mo
60 min. class$73/mo
75 min. class$85/mo
90 min. class$94/mo
Ballet 4 & 5 (150 min)$144/mo
How do I register?

If you’re new to the studio, we suggest you start with the program page for your dancer’s age or grade level. Each page provides an overview of the program, the schedule of all classes for that age group, and class descriptions. To enroll your child in a class, click the “Register” link in the class listing. You’ll create an account in our Parent Portal, and the desired class will be preloaded for enrollment.

Once you have an account in the Parent Portal, you can easily search for classes by age and style. If a desired class is full, please add your dancer to the waitlist. Class placements often shift, and we frequently open additional sections when there is enough interest. Joining the waitlist is the best way to ensure we can accommodate as many dancers as possible.
