Yes, we are aware that some routines are VERY close together — it’s okay! At studio competitions, they will take performing groups as they are ready. Meaning that if our team needs a few more minutes for a costume change, we will take that time and another group can go ahead of us.
Studio competitions typically go by NUMBER of routine, not title or name of group. Therefore, look to our POD Master Schedule to know what routine NUMBER your child is in. It is listed in the first column as “Entry Number” on our POD Master Schedule . Knowing your routine numbers will also be helpful during awards. Routine numbers will not be available until one week before the competition.
Parent information
- Dancers should plan on arriving at their ‘ready time’ on the POD Master schedule unless notified via Stack Team App that the competition is running early or late. THAT OFTEN HAPPENS FOR STUDIO COMPETITIONS, as they go out of order frequently. Staff will post where teams/solos/ensembles will meet, how the time is running ahead (or behind if it is), and other important information as the weekend progresses. Stay informed by keeping an eye on that TEAM APP.
- NO VIDEO CAMERAS OR PHOTOGRAPHY ARE ALLOWED
- Studio competitions are quite different from All-Star competitions in just about every aspect. If you are new to competitive dance, please see this comparison sheet for more information about the differences and what to expect.
Studio Event Etiquette and Expectations
For our dancers and families used to the energy level at All-Star events, studio events feel very different. Many are held in an auditorium and do not have designated “viewing space” for the fans of the performing team/dancer. While we are in the habit of LOUDLY vocalizing our support for the POD performer on stage (and we strongly encourage that at All-Star events!), studio events come with a different set of rules and expectations. Please treat studio competitions more as you would a play performance – stay in your seat, quietly enjoy the performance, and applaud/cheer after each routine. Following studio event etiquette maintains POD’s good reputation within the community (and greater dance community) and may prevent any subconscious judging biases related to fan behavior.
