Adult Dance 101

FOR AGES 18 AND UP

Learn the basics of a variety of dance styles in a fun and welcoming environment! This class is easy enough for beginners but still enjoyable for those with previous dance experience. Each week includes simple choreography, movement, and technique in a relaxed, low-pressure atmosphere.

This class does learn a routine, and dancers may choose to perform in the spring recital.  Much of this class is designed around the preferences of the students.

2026-27 School-Year Session

Adult Dance 101 is the perfect opportunity to learn the basics of a variety of dance styles in a fun and welcoming environment. This class is beginner-friendly but still engaging for those with previous dance experience. Dancers enjoy movement, exercise, and creativity in a relaxed, low-pressure atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to participate at their own level.

During the first half of the season, dancers explore a variety of styles, typically spending several classes on each. Styles may include ballet, tap, jazz, Broadway, contemporary, and lyrical, giving students the opportunity to try new things and expand their understanding of dance. The class welcomes adults of all ages and experience levels. Instruction is thoughtfully adapted to meet individual needs, whether that means providing additional challenges for experienced dancers or modifying movements for those who need a gentler option.

For the second half of the season, the class works together to choose the style of their recital piece and then spends the remainder of the year learning and refining that routine. All dancers are invited to perform in the annual recital, but participation is completely optional. Whether you’re looking to try something new, return to dance after years away, learn more about the art form, or simply enjoy an hour of movement and community each week, Adult Dance 101 offers a place for everyone.
